A physical entity looking more like a human, matted-tangled hair, with a crescent moon on his head, snake as an ornament wrapped around his neck, ashes smeared all over his body with a third eye on his forehead. This is what we imagine how Lord Shiva looks like.
The term “Shiva” can be coined as Nothing. So, how could an entity having a physical form be nothing? Does Shiva even exist? Who is Shiva? Is he the energy which is controlling this multiverse? Let’s discuss all the answers on this article.

Nothingness & Energy
Where does life come from and where do we go after death? The simple answer is nothingness. We come from nothing and we go back to nothing.
According to modern science, everything in the world comes from nothing and heads back to nothing. Let’s assume this multiverse having numerous universe, galaxies, which contains empty space between them. What should we call this empty space? Nothing right? Yes, this empty space, this nothing is Shiva, which is the womb from which everything is born, and a clueless parallelity into which everything is sucked back. Everything is parented to Shiva, either it’s existence or death.
Shiva is also known as Anadi Ananta, meaning having no birth and who never dies. This means Shiva was neither born nor he will ever die. According to Law of Conservation of Energy, “Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed, but can be transferred from one form to another”. Shiva is multiverse, he is air, he is earth , he is fire, and he is water at the same time. All are the sources of energy. This means that he is in all the Panchatatwa present on this multiverse. So, Shiva is everything being nothing and the ultimate source of energy.
Being and Not Being At The Same Time
The term Shiva is coined as a non-being. He is described as a darkness which does not need any source to occur. He is eternal. We already mentioned that Shiva is portrayed as an entity with physical characteristics. But, how is he a non-being having physical form?
Shiva is also known as Aadiyogi (first ever Yogi). Here, Yoga cannot be classified to stand on your head with your feet upwards, holding your breath. Yoga is a phenomenon to completely gain consciousness. This is called samadhi, where you leave all your physical form to be an energy. This is where our confusion comes to an conclusion. Shiva is an entity having physical form in samadhi state.
Let’s ask ourself a question. Can a cup hold a tank of water? Can a tank hold an ocean. A planet can hold an ocean but can it hold the entire solar system? No right? Something cannot hold everything. Galaxies are in universe, universe are in multiverse but where is multiverse? It’s in nothing. So, nothing can hold everything. Being as entity, shiva is a Yogi and when shiva is in Yog, he is absolute nothingness. Because if any person gain samadhi even for a moment, he has been absolute nothingness for that moment.
SHIVA - The Ultimate Energy
Scientifically, energy is the quantitative property that is transformed to any physical system. We already discussed it right? Everything comes from Shiva and goes back to Shiva. He hold everything including Heat and Light, galaxies and multiverse, and nothing and everything.
Hence, Shiva is the ultimate energy.
